Why is there shipping costs inclusive of the cost of the books and CCNow also adds postage costs?

Answer:

  • The cost of shipping along with the price of the book is the cost of sea-mail. The CCNow postage cost takes care of the registration costs and the cost of airmail. The shipping costs of multi-volume sets has one single CCNow postage cost - e.g. the cost of product # 2, the Encyclopedia of Indian Philosophies by Karl Potter is a nine volume set that has the sea mail postage included, and CCNow charges another $14 with this, only for the registration costs.

  • Mail Track - all dispatches sent from India is tracked. This is in association with the Indian Postal authorities and the country of destination. For example, all dispatch is registered and the post office of destination on receipt of the package, notifies the GPO, India. The GPO sends us a computerized copy of the receipt and follows up with acknowledgement of delivery made to the client. All mail is registered whether the dispatch is being made from USA, UK or India.

  • All mail is insured therefore when a claim of missing package is made, if the GPO India is satisfied that there mail track has proved the parcel is missing, they arrange to reimburse us.
In the five years of operation there have been three missing claims made from Bharat Books & Arts. One was a genuine claim from a UK client and once the postal authorities found the parcel indeed went missing, they reimbursed us and we sent a replacement to the client. The other two claims were false claims, both were from the USA and from clients of Indian origin. In both cases, the local USA Post offices gave support to us by reporting false claims to the local police. Both the false claimants had to pay compensation to the USA and Indian postal authorities for their dishonesty.

  • All claims for missing orders have to be made within four weeks from the date of dispatch, otherwise, the claim is not accepted.
The usual time of delivery from India for the following countries is:

  • USA - 10 to 21 days (10 days for the major cities and up to 21 days for non-city destination).

  • UK - (including Scotland / Ireland / Wales) 7 days to 21 days. Post to London, Edinburgh and Dublin reaches from India within 4 working days, if the weight of the parcel is below 1 kg.

  • Europe - 14 to 30 days. Dispatches from India to France, Germany, Holland, Finland and Sweden takes less than 14 days, usually it reaches in a week's time. In the case of North Europe, the time is as given. Spain, Italy, Portugal and Greece are the most troublesome with the local post office taking the longest time to respond to mail track questions. There is no given pattern to the time taken here, but it usually reaches within a month.

  • Russia and Eastern Europe Mail track is most difficult here but we have not had any missing claims from here. The usual time of delivery is 18 days.

  • Africa - 14 to 30 days. Dispatches from India to South Africa and Kenya takes less than 14 days, usually it reaches in a week's time.

  • Asia - 7 days for Japan, China and the Middle-East. Thailand, Cambodia, Korea and Vietnam takes up to 18 days.
